HUGE HUNGER GAMES MOVIE NEWS!

You may or may not have seen this already, but the role of Katniss has finally been given to someone: 20 year old Jennifer Lawrence of Winter's Bone.

My first reaction:

And then, when I saw Jennifer Lawrence:

I freaked out. If THAT'S KATNISS, THEN I'M FREAKING SANTA CLAUS.

Then I saw this:

And was relieved. That's MUCH better. As long as they dye her hair then I think she looks the part well enough. Now we just have to see if she can pull off the acting.

Now it sounds like the casting department is focusing on Peeta, and right now people are saying that Josh Hutcherson, Alex Pettyfer, and Hunter Parrish--my personal favorite--are all contenders for the role.

So, thoughts?

  1. Yeah, Jennifer Lawrence should look okay as Katniss if they dye her hair. As far as acting... well, I guess we'll see.

Out of the choices for the guys, I think I like Hunter Parrish, too, based on the photos you posted. He looks the closest to Peeta, especially with those eyes. I kind of hope Alex Pettyfer doesn't get this one; he seems to be in everything right now, and I'm afraid casting him might overshadow Katniss (and it's her story, after all!).

  3. Well, if they die her hair ... Then she might be able to pull it off. Maybe.

God, anyone but Alex Pettyfer. Sure, he's nice too look at, b-but he's everywhere. And he's just not Peeta in my head. I'd probably go with Hunter Parrish.

  4. I'm just concerned who they'll cast as Gale. He's my man.

  5. LOL, that was pretty much my reaction too! At first when I saw that top pic of her I was going, "No way that is Katniss." But she looks much more Katniss-like in the second one, so with dark hair I think she will, as you say, look the part. But the acting will be crucial!
