Crank. Glass. Ice. Crystal. Whatever you call it, it's all the same: a monster. And once it's got hold of you, this monster will never let you go.

Kristina thinks she can control it. Now with a baby to care for, she's determined to be the one deciding when and how much, the one calling the shots. But the monster is too strong, and before she knows it, Kristina is back in its grips. She needs the monster to keep going, to face the pressures of day-to-day life. She needs it to feel alive.

Once again the monster takes over Kristina's life and she will do anything for it, including giving up the one person who gives her the unconditional love she craves -- her baby.
Glass was just as intense--if not more intense--than it's prequel, Crank.

This novel focuses on returning to addiction, and how it can completely and totally rule your life. Once again, Hopkin's delivers a frighteningly realistic portrayal of addiction. At times, though, the story got repetitive. This might've been intentional, but even if it was I still got kind of bored at parts because it felt like I'd already read it in Crank. But after some of that, the story becomes new and darker.

Even though Hopkin's writes in verse, I still get a great feel for the characters, which is a huge accomplishment, since this isn't usually the case for me. And I definitely got enough of a feel for the characters to know that I HATE TRENT AND I WANT CHASE BACK. *clears throat* Sorry...

I have Fallout on my shelf, and while I'm excited to read it, I can't just yet. Not because it will be sad to see the series end, but because these novels and so dark that now I need something lighter and easier.

Glass was rough. Drugs are rough. Glass was addicting. Drugs are addicting. Glass was good. Drugs are not.

Book Report:
Plot: Grabbing.
Characters: Stupid and stupider but somehow you still care for them. It's strange.
Writing: So good! I think I might have to go back through this one to find some of my favorite quotes...
Ending: Just kinda...ended!
Kid friendly? There's a lot of drugs, and a lot of sex, and some swearing.
Should I read it? After you've read Crank. You're not gonna want to miss a minute of this screwed up story.
Overall:

  1. I loved Crank and can't wait to read Glass.. I'm like you, while I loved it, I took a break when this one came out and didn't rush to buy it because if I did I would have read it lol. I just couldn't handle how dark these books tend to get back to back.
